The Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja, in collaboration with Transcorp Hilton Abuja, organized the “Taste of Thailand” from 15–20 September 2026 to promote Thai cuisine and introduce Thai culinary culture in Nigeria. The event featured Thai chefs from the Royal Thai Embassy and Hilton in Dubai, UAE, who jointly prepared and presented a variety of Thai-inspired dishes. From 15–18 September 2026, the Thai chefs worked with the culinary team of Zuma Grill at Transcorp Hilton Abuja to present Thai cuisine in a fine-dining style. Thai flavours and ingredients, including green curry, Panang curry, Massaman curry, Jaew sauce (Spicy Tamarind sauce) and Thai seafood dipping sauce, were incorporated into Zuma Grill’s dishes, creating a distinctive fusion of Thai flavours. Thai-inspired cocktails featuring Thai brandy and coconut water were also served. The programme attracted approximately 150 participants.
On 20 September 2026, the Embassy and the hotel hosted a Sunday Brunch Buffet under the theme “From Street to Feast”, featuring popular Thai dishes such as Pad Thai Noodles, Som Tam (papaya salad), Moo Ping (pork skewers), grilled chicken balls, chicken noodle soup and Tom Yum Goong (spicy prawn soup), as well as dessert made with Thai tea, namely Thai Tea Panna Cotta. Butterfly pea flower and coconut-based cocktails were also offered, allowing approximately 250 guests to sample a wide variety of Thai dishes in a buffet setting.
The activity reflected the cooperation between the Royal Thai Embassy and Transcorp Hilton Abuja in promoting Thai cuisine and showcasing its cultural diversity in Nigeria, while fostering greater appreciation and interest in Thai culture through food.
