On 31 August 2026, H.E. Mr. Thirapath Mongkolnavin, Ambassador of Thailand to Nigeria and Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Abuja (ACA), attended the ASEAN Flag Hoisting Ceremony to mark ASEAN Day 2026, hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja at the Residence of the Ambassador.

       The ceremony was attended by the Ambassadors of ASEAN member countries accredited to Nigeria, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, as well as members of the ACA’s Technical Working Group. The ceremony reflected ASEAN’ shared commitment to strengthening ASEAN unity, solidarity and cooperation in Nigeria.

Following the ceremony, H.E. the Ambassador chaired the 2nd Heads of Mission Meeting of the ACA and formally handed over the Chairship of the ACA to H.E. the Ambassador of Vietnam to Nigeria.
